About the Gilmore Red Lion: This project started out as an effort to find a different body style on the same Bantam Midget plan. This version encloses the frame on the Bantam so it looks sleek. The German Audis come to mind - they were like this. Also I found a late 30s-40's Midget with a Ford 60 where the body covered the frame. To me it looked more Deco-style. It was an exception to the Bantam rule. Most racers were not as interested in design if it served no purpose other than looks. |
To me this is a design idea that incorporates and blends the Forties style with the interior frame of the Kurtis and smoothes it all together. The wire wheels make it more European looking. - Will Neely, November 2008 |
