About Indian Joe: I wanted something different than the Bantam Midgets I was making. I wanted to make a Kurtis Midget. When I was growing in Southern California in the '50s and "60s, a Kurtis Midget with an Offy engine was hard to beat. I got interested because My Dad built his own boats, engine Ford '60s, to win five or six National Championships, and he set several world records at the time.

Ford '60s were used both in boats and Midgets at that time. So I dreamed about that stuff when I was young. Micky Rooney and Clark Gable had both made movies about racing. It was big news in Southern California at the time.

I think my Dad gave up racing because of me. I was almost of age for racing and neither my Mom or Dad wanted that to happen.

A friend of mine is into some of the Racing Clubs that race in the Antique Races. He gave me a set of Kurtis Midget plans for that era. What a beautiful car. I am thinking about building a mold for the Kurtis body and a 1/6 scale mold of the early Offy.
